Thank You, Nurse Practitioners

Every November, National Nurse Practitioner (NP) Week recognizes the more than 430,000 licensed nurse practitioners across the United States who are redefining healthcare through expertise, compassion, and connection. At Encore Wound Care, we're proud to work alongside these skilled professionals every day and see firsthand the difference they make in the lives of patients and families.

Nurse practitioners are at the forefront of care delivery in nearly every setting — hospitals, clinics, and long-term care communities alike. They are the fastest-growing primary care provider profession in the country, bridging critical gaps in access and bringing high-quality care to millions of patients each year.

With advanced clinical training and master's or doctoral-level education, NPs diagnose, treat, and manage both acute and chronic conditions. They also hold prescriptive authority in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, underscoring their essential role in the healthcare system.

In long-term and skilled nursing facilities, NPs are often the steady, familiar presence guiding residents through complex health journeys. Nearly 80% of full-time NPs care for Medicaid patients, and 74% care for Medicare patients — reflecting their dedication to serving some of the most medically vulnerable populations.

At Encore, our NPs and collaborating providers bring that same dedication to wound care, combining clinical excellence with empathy and a deep understanding of each patient's unique needs. From pressure injuries to post-surgical wounds, their skill and consistency drive better healing outcomes and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations.

What Truly Sets NPs Apart

What truly sets NPs apart is their approach to care. They don't just treat conditions — they treat people. By listening, educating, and empowering patients and families, NPs create trust and improve adherence to care plans. In a field like wound care, where healing requires time, patience, and collaboration, that human connection makes all the difference.

As we celebrate National Nurse Practitioner Week, we extend our deepest gratitude to the NPs within Encore and across the country who exemplify what it means to care. Your knowledge, leadership, and compassion elevate healthcare every day. To every NP working in long-term care, in wound management, and across every specialty — thank you.
